Amsterdam, 19 december 2008 — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) heeft aangekondigd dat de Adobe® AIR™ 1.5-software beschikbaar is voor Linux®-besturingssystemen. Adobe AIR 1.5 is een belangrijke component binnen het Adobe Flash® Platform en zorgt ervoor dat webontwikkelaars gebruik kunnen maken van HTML, JavaScript, ActionScript en het gratis, open source Flex-framework om webapplicaties buiten de browser te leveren. Ontwikkelaars kunnen direct gebruikmaken van de Adobe AIR 1.5-technologie om softwareapplicaties te ontwikkelen voor Linux-, Windows®- en Mac-besturingssystemen. Bedrijven die Adobe AIR gebruiken om unieke merkervaringen te leveren, zoals DIRECTV, FOX News en The Nasdaq Stock Market Inc., zijn er nu van verzekerd dat hun AIR-applicaties het gros van de gebruikers zal bereiken via alle grote besturingssystemen.

AIR 1.5 bevat in Adobe Flash Player 10 geïntroduceerde functies zoals ondersteuning voor personaliseringsfilters en -effecten, originele 3D-transformatie en -animatie en uitbreidbare tekstuele vormgeving. Het programma herbergt de open source WebKit HTML engine en verbetert de prestaties van applicaties met ‘SquirrelFish’, de nieuwe WebKit JavaScript-interpreter. Adobe AIR 1.5 bevat ook een nieuwe, gecodeerde database die voldoet aan de beveiligingseisen voor bedrijven en data veilig opslaat op de computer van de klant.

Adobe AIR Levels Playing Field for Application Development on Linux, Windows and MacSAN JOSE, Calif. — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced the general availability of Adobe® AIR™ 1.5 software for Linux® operating systems. Adobe AIR 1.5, a key component of the Adobe Flash® Platform, enables Web developers to use HTML, JavaScript, ActionScript and the free, open source Flex framework to deliver Web applications outside the browser. Now, with no additional efforts, developers can use Adobe AIR 1.5 technology to create compelling software applications that are available on Linux, in addition to the Windows® and Mac operating systems. Companies, such as DIRECTV, FOX News and The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc., who are using Adobe AIR to deliver uniquely branded experiences, high-definition video and other rich content outside the browser, can be sure their AIR applications will reach the most users across all major operating systems.

AIR 1.5 includes functionality introduced in Adobe Flash Player 10, such as support for custom filters and effects, native 3D transformation and animation, and extensible rich text layout. Offering new features and performance improvements to create more expressive AIR applications, Adobe AIR 1.5 incorporates the open source WebKit HTML engine and now accelerates application performance with “SquirrelFish,” the new WebKit JavaScript interpreter. Adobe AIR 1.5 also includes a new, encrypted database that meets enterprise security compliance requirements while storing data more securely on customers’ computers.
