Redwood Shores, Calif. 12 oktober 2007 - Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL) heeft op 9 oktober een brief gestuurd aan de Board of Directors van BEA Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: BEAS) waarin het voorstelt BEA over te nemen voor 17 dollar per aandeel, cash. De U$ 17,00 is 25 procent hoger dan de slotkoers van gisteren, U$ 13,62.
De brief geeft verder aan dat Oracle bereid is direct te starten met het proces om te komen tot een definitieve overeenkomst. "Wij hebben een serieus bod gedaan, inclusief een aanzienlijke premie voor BEA”, zegt Oracle President Charles Phillips. "Wij geloven dat ons cash-aanbod de beste waarde vertegenwoordigt voor de aandeelhouders van BEA en een goede thuishaven biedt voor BEA’s medewerkers en klanten. Het voorstel is het resultaat van diverse besprekingen met het management van BEA, gedurende de afgelopen jaren. We kijken er naar uit dit vriendschappelijke bod snel af te kunnen ronden.”

Het zal met BEA niet anders zijn. De acquisitie van BEA door Oracle betekent een uitbreiding van onze ontwikkelcapaciteit en zal de ontwikkeling van onze middleware suite verder versnellen. De klanten van zowel Oracle als BEA plukken hiervan de vruchten bij hun overschakeling naar moderne SOA-technologie.”
