New HP Software Automates Compliance and Change Management
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 13, 2006 - HP introduced new OpenView software and upgrades that automate change management capabilities and compliance processes.
To be unveiled at the RSA Conference, HP OpenView Select Audit and enhancements to HP OpenView Select Identity enable customers to build secure enterprises that can respond quickly to change.
HP also introduced new integrations to further extend identity management into the application and operating system layers.
"The need for accurate identity and access management across disparate systems, processes, services and environments is a business imperative in today's environment, and the consequences of non-compliance can be profound," said Roberta Witty, vice president of research, Gartner.
Integrated into HP's identity management suite of award-winning products, HP OpenView Select Audit simplifies the way enterprises meet changing compliance needs by automating the entire audit lifecycle involved with internal audit policies and federal regulations. Features
include:
- A visual control modeling framework, developed by HP Labs, which provides a dashboard that maps compliance guidelines to IT audit controls;
- A centralized audit system to prevent tampering of records with a digitally signed aggregation of every administrative action, user change, access request and authorization decision;
- Out-of-the-box reporting that provides insight into the identity infrastructure with on-demand and scheduled reports commensurate with operational and government audit policies; includes a report pack designed specifically for Sarbanes-Oxley requirements;
- Integration with HP OpenView Select Access, HP OpenView Select Federation and HP OpenView Select Identity for centralized and consolidated audit infrastructure.
The enhanced HP OpenView Select Identity 4.0 includes the automation of change management and compliance processes, such as when systems and applications are added, upgraded or retired, and allows for administrative duties to be segregated as needed. Other enhancements include audit features that lower operational risk and prevent changes that are not aligned with documented change control processes.
"One of the top requirements for passing an audit is demonstrating control over and insight into user access of IT infrastructure and the change management process and HP OpenView Select Audit helps users do just that," said Todd DeLaughter, vice president and general manager, OpenView Business Unit, HP. "By reducing the complexity of the entire audit lifecycle, customers can more quickly align their IT controls and processes with the requirements tied to the higher level business and regulatory policies."
HP OpenView identity management integrations
Integrating HP OpenView identity management solutions with existing IT infrastructure enables identities to be centrally managed, saving time and reducing cost.
HP OpenView Select Access installed with HP OpenView Service Desk can reduce the costs associated with tasks like password resets and profile updates. A self-service option allows users to securely reset their own passwords to access web resources. Directory-enabled applications can be updated through Smart Action, which provides IT with a tool to automatically populate user information for faster processing.
The HP-UX 11i Identity Management Integration, which is enabled by the integration of HP OpenView Select Access with HP-UX, provides authentication and enforcement of user rights within the operating system. HP is the only UNIX vendor delivering operating system security policy integration with web-based identity management.
Unique pricing model
HP also is the only vendor that offers both federation and audit management, in addition to access and identity management, in its suite pricing.
HP OpenView identity management products are available as a full suite, or can be sold individually. Suite pricing, which starts at $39(1) per internal user for a perpetual license, is based on the number of identities managed. Volume pricing and external user pricing is also available.
