BakBone neemt Constant Data over

Met IDP biedt BakBone een suite van geïntegreerde databeschermingsoplossingen voor effectief beheer van databescherming en het realiseren van hogere niveaus van databeschikbaarheid. De multiplatform-replicatietechnologie van Constant Data is een aanvulling op de heterogene platformondersteuning van de NetVault backup en disaster recovery-technologieën. Verder biedt deze technologie gebruikers een holistische aanpak voor het beheer van databescherming.

NetVault®:Replicator biedt automatisch onderhoud van bestanden en garandeert datasynchronisatie van en naar elke locatie. Dit leidt tot voortdurende databeschikbaarheid. Het product is zeer geschikt voor off-site data-mirroring voor direct herstel, gegarandeerde distributie van digitale content, wide area-clustering en dataconsolidatie vanaf remote locaties met onbeperkte schaalbaarheid. Constant Replicator is naadloos te installeren binnen bestaande heterogene storage-omgevingen en biedt voortdurende databescherming voor bestaande servers. Hierdoor zijn eerdere investeringen altijd beschermd.

Door ondersteuning voor verschillende besturingssystemen, zoals Windows, Linux, Solaris, AIX en Mac OS, bieden de real-time datareplicatieoplossingen van BakBone Software gebruikers daadwerkelijk bidirectionele replicatie, one-to-many replicatie voor datadistributie binnen bedrijven, en many-to-one replicatie voor centrale databescherming voor gedistribueerde omgevingen. Met deze software doorbreken gebruikers de beperkingen van andere replicatieoplossingen die een volledig identieke omgeving voor de bron- en de bestemmingslocaties vereisen.

BakBone neemt Constant Data over voor $ 5,0 miljoen in contanten. In de overeenkomst is uitgegaan van een geschatte waarde van bedrijfsmiddelen en verplichtingen ter waarde van zo’n $ 5,5 miljoen. De transactie is op 15 november 2005 afgerond. De overgenomen Constant Data-organisatie blijft opereren vanuit Hopkins, Minnesota (VS).
