June 29 - Allied Telesyn, a global provider of end-to-end Ethernet/IP solutions, today announced the launch of its new Cirrus(tm) 7400 series of enterprise-class wireless LAN access points. Designed with dual integrated 2.4GHz and 5GHz IEEE 802.11a/g frequency radios, the Cirrus 7400 offers enterprise customers cutting-edge security features, advanced management tools and superior performance.
The Cirrus 7400 supports Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), multiple Basic Service Set Identifiers (BSSIDs), Virtual LANs (VLANs), and Quality of Service (QoS) features. This combination of BSSIDs, VLANS and QoS allows one Cirrus 7400 to appear as multiple virtual access points. Each virtual access point can be assigned to a different network with unique levels of security, which easily handles diverse workgroups as well as the varying bandwidth needs of voice, data, and other applications found in enterprise and distributed campus environments.
Built-in management capabilities allow the administrator to configure and update multiple Cirrus 7400 units from a single interface. Equipped with advanced security capabilities including: 802.11i (WPA/WPA2), draft 802.11e, Quality-of-Service, RADIUS, and Authentication, Authorisation and Accounting (AAA), the Cirrus 7400 is designed for wireless LAN networks of all sizes and security levels.
"The Cirrus 7400 is ideal for enterprise and campus deployments," said Allied Telesyn's Executive Vice President of Product Management and Marketing, Philip Yim. "The dual 802.11a/g technology ensures legacy compatibility with the ability to migrate to higher performance 54 Mbps 802.11g networks at affordable cost. The capacity for multiple virtual networks, or BSSIDs, with different levels of privacy and security is a critical capability for environments with multiple workgroups or diverse application needs."
The Cirrus 7400 complements Allied Telesyn's broad wireless LAN and networking solutions, which also include Layer 2 and Layer 3 routers and switches, such as the 8524 Power-over-Ethernet switch.
Allied Telesyn's products are backed by a complete range of technical support options, including 24/7 web and phone support and professional services.
Pricing and Availability
The Cirrus 7400 is currently available to order in a single, 802.11g radio version with a list price of $350. This version includes built-in upgradeability to dual 802.11a/g capability. The dual 802.11a/g radio configuration will ship in Q3, 2005.
