Nieuwegein, – December 6, 2004 – EMC Corporation, the world leader in information storage and management, again extended its lead in worldwide revenue for external disk storage systems in the third quarter according to a new report from IDC [a]. EMC grew its portion of the market for the fifth consecutive quarter on a year-over-year basis and gained more share, year-over-year, than any of the next six largest suppliers.

IDC also reported EMC widened its revenue share lead in worldwide networked storage revenue, which includes Fibre Channel SANs, iSCSI SANs and network-attached storage (NAS), gaining more share than any of the next six largest suppliers, compared to the year-ago quarter. The market research firm also reported EMC led in external RAID disk storage systems revenue in Western Europe for the second consecutive quarter and recorded the highest year-over-year revenue growth among the five largest suppliers in Asia Pacific.
