Munich, Germany/ Swindon, England, May 4th, 2004 - Intel Corporation today named Stacy Jared Smith to the position of chief information officer (CIO). Smith reports to Andy D. Bryant, Intel's chief financial and enterprise services officer, and will jointly coordinate Intel's information technology (IT) solutions and the company's efforts to be a 100 percent e-Corporation with Douglas F. Busch.
Brian Harrison replaces Smith as co-general manager of Intel in EMEA. He shares this role with Christian Morales and will be responsible for driving Intel's sales and marketing activities in the EMEA region.
Smith, 41, joined Intel in 1988 and has held a variety of international management positions in Intel's finance and sales and marketing organizations. Before joining Intel, Smith received his B.A. and M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas, Austin, U.S.A. He is a vice president of Intel's sales and marketing group. Smith will be based at Intel's headquarters in Santa Clara, U.S.A.
Harrison, 46, joined Intel in 1984 and has held a number of technical and management positions in the manufacturing organization. Since 2000 he has managed Intel's wafer production facilities worldwide, with over 16,000 employees at seven manufacturing sites. He has a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Stanford University and a master's degree from the University of Santa Clara. Harrison will be based at Intel's office in Swindon, England.
