SANITEC OUTSOURCES TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORK AND SECURITY MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO EQUANT
– Equant connects European sites of largest bath and shower products supplier
through 2009 –
Equant (NYSE: ENT) (Euronext Paris: EQU), a recognized industry leader in global IP and data services for multinational businesses, will deliver an MPLS-based IP VPN network solution and related security management services to Sanitec, the leading European bathroom solution supplier. In addition, Equant will provide Private Dial remote access service for travelling Sanitec employees under a contract that extends to 2009.
The Sanitec Group is the largest supplier of bathroom ceramics and bath and shower products in Europe and the leading supplier of vacuum sewage systems globally. Sanitec has 30 production plants around Europe and a worldwide sales and marketing network. The Group employs about 8,000 people worldwide and is recognized for such strong local brands as Allia, Evac, Ido, Ifö, Keramag and Pozzi-Ginori.
"Our investment in the Equant IP VPN solution is part of a larger program for shaping the way Sanitec will be doing business in the future," said the Sanitec Group’s Vice President and Chief Information Officer Tiina Pesonen. "This new solution will help us improve customer service and internal efficiency, as well as strengthen the use of resources. The IP VPN will connect our units that are spread out all over Europe.
"Equant was the best supplier for us to be able to meet our requirements for a single provider for the entire network and local support in all the countries that are important for our business," Pesonen said. "The replacement of 12 local operators with one global service provider is essential for improved efficiency."
By outsourcing its telecommunications and network security management services to Equant, Sanitec will gain the following benefits:
- The MPLS-based Equant IP VPN will provide high performance and secure connections.
- A single, global solution instead of multiple local networks will help make the system easier to manage, improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- The ability to prioritize traffic and business critical applications should reduce operational costs.
The contract will also include multiple Equant services such as Equant Secure Gateway – including Managed Firewall, Managed Antivirus and Managed Employee Access services – plus Equant Server Management and Equant Internet Direct. Global Customer Service Centers will be available for local support around the clock.
