New York City, October 2, 2003 - Staffware, the global leader in Business Process Management (BPM) software, today announces that since implementing its Process Suite at UnumProvident in October 2001, it now handles 1.3 million activities and tasks per day. The implementation has expanded in six-month intervals culminating in over 5,800 users. Unum Provident, the largest provider of group and individual disability income protection insurance, selected Staffware's solution to unify its many disparate systems into a single integrated claims management platform. As a result, UnumProvident is better able to meet or exceed claims response service level commitments to corporate clients and further its competitive differentiation with superior customer service.
"Staffware established the cohesive BPM infrastructure we needed to process our claims quickly and efficiently so our claims managers can do what they do best and focus on people, not a computer system," said Bob Best, CIO and Executive Vice President, Customer Loyalty Service, UnumProvident.
UnumProvident claims processing requires both digital information routing and the human interaction of specialists and doctors trained in medical issues and organized into impairment units. UnumProvident needed to integrate many legacy systems into a common, web-based interface to boost claims processing productivity and reduce the ongoing costs of training claims managers on many different systems.
Staffware Process Suite is also being used to automate the firm's critical customer benefits enrollment processes. Customers are required to submit an Evidence of Insurability (EOI) form to determine eligibility for additional benefits. Staffware Process Suite integrates with UnumProvident's internally developed imaging system to pull necessary data from over 100,000 EOI forms annually automatically routing each form to the appropriate service unit for processing. This has enabled UnumProvident to reduce overall operation costs while improving productivity. For example, it's eliminated the need to hire temporary employees to handle high volumes of forms that come in weekly during peak enrollment periods.
"UnumProvident is committed to customer service and the power of processing claims at high service level standards," said Kuljit Bawa, CEO of Americas, Staffware Corporation. "Staffware understands these goals and has taken a comprehensive approach to maximizing value for UnumProvident and its customers. That's why our business process management solution continues to be the standard for insurance industry leaders like UnumProvident."
