Vignette appoints Gonzalo Usandizaga Vice President and General Manager of European region
AUSTIN, Texas - Sept. 2, 2003 - Vignette Corp. today announced the appointment of Gonzalo Usandizaga as vice president and general manager of Vignette's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Usandizaga, formerly managing director of Vignette Ibérica (Spain and Portugal), is charged with leading Vignette in powering the enterprise Web for the company's growing base of European and international customers. Usandizaga will report to Jon Niess, Vignette's senior vice president of worldwide sales and sales operations.
"Under Gonzalo's leadership, Vignette Ibérica has become the clear market leader across all major industry segments in the region," said Niess. "He has successfully leveraged outstanding partner relationships to establish our content management and portal products as the technology standards within the government, telecommunications and financial services verticals, a powerful asset in his role as Vignette's EMEA leader."
Usandizaga has a proven track record in the region, anticipating customer needs through a thorough knowledge of the marketplace. Vignette's EMEA organization includes 110 professionals across nine countries, complemented by an extended community of business partners. The region has shown particular strength in the public sector, financial services, life sciences and telecommunications markets.
Usandizaga joined Vignette in 2000 from IBM/Tivoli, where he held a number of management positions. He graduated from ESIC University in Spain with a degree in Marketing and Business Management, and has previously held sales and marketing positions at Software AG and InfoProducts.
