SAN FRANCISCO — (August 12, 2003) Critical Path, Inc. (Nasdaq: CPTH), a global leader in digital communications software and services, announced that it has signed a worldwide reseller agreement with HP for Critical Path's messaging applications, as well as directory and meta-directory software products which are important components of an identity management solution. The products are now available on the HP-UX 11i operating system for HP 9000 servers running on PA-RISC and are intended to be available on the HP-UX 11i v2 operating system for HP Integrity servers running on Intel© Itanium© 2 processors. This new agreement complements the companies' existing global alliance in which they are jointly offering a managed messaging service that combines Critical Path's messaging software with HP's expertise in providing enterprise-class IT infrastructure services and data center management.
This non-exclusive agreement allows HP to immediately begin reselling Critical Path's software products running on the HP-UX 11i operating system. HP Services offers a broad range of consulting and integration services that complement the Critical Path software.
"We are very pleased to now have HP offer our software as well as our hosted solutions," said William E. McGlashan, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of Critical Path. "This gives our mutual customers around the world access to a full range of best-of-breed solutions — in both messaging and identity management - that provide the scalability, connectivity and customizability needed to rapidly drive new revenues and cut costs in today's economy."
"HP's IT infrastructure, platforms, and global services expertise combined with Critical Path's messaging applications and identity management technologies provide customers with a set of solutions that offer unparalleled robustness and manageability," said Volkhard Bregulla, vice president and global lead, Consulting and Integration, HP Services.
Critical Path is now shipping HP-UX 11i versions of its Messaging Server, Presentation Server, Personal Address Book Server, and Calendar Server; HP-UX 11i versions of the company's Internet File Server, Notification Server and SyncML Server will begin shipping later this summer. These messaging products enable telecommunications carriers and network service providers to bring integrated, revenue-generating premium services to market quickly while reducing capital expenditures and operating costs. They are used throughout the world to power wireless, Web, voice, and desktop access to email, personal information management, collaboration and mobile messaging.
In addition, Critical Path is shipping HP-UX 11i versions of its Directory Server and Meta-Directory Server and its new Password Management offering. These identity management products enable enterprises, government agencies, and service providers to consolidate user identity data - such as names, passwords, contact information, preferences, roles, access rights, and personalization information - into an up-to-date, centrally managed repository from which changes can be managed securely, at dramatically lower cost. They have been deployed at leading organizations around the world to integrate legacy and proprietary systems, provide accurate identities for web portal access and single sign-on, automate provisioning of applications and services, and slash the cost and effort of managing passwords in some of the industry's largest computing environments.
