CUPERTINO, CA (August 7, 2003) — Portal Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRSF) today announced the availability of a key features for the company’s award-winning convergent billing solution. Designed to further accelerate time to market and enable operators to efficiently roll out new services, the new release includes a next-generation GSM solution, a new Pricing Center, and the joint Portal and Siebel TelcoOne™ solution. This release demonstrates the momentum that Portal continues to gain by providing the most advanced, easy-to-use, product-based billing solution to the market.
“Portal has a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions designed to help our customers meet their business objectives,” said Shay Mowlem, vice president of Product Marketing at Portal Software. “Portal is continually extending the capabilities of its product-based solution to provide real customer advantage by developing new features that enhance operational efficiencies and working with its partners to offer integrated solutions that reduce development time and costs.”
GSM Manager Accelerates Time to Revenue
With the GSM Manager, Portal enables wireless operators to rapidly deliver new services to market with a new provisioning interface and toolkit that configures the interaction between Portal wireless solutions and provisioning applications. Wireless operators can also rapidly configure, test, and roll out new services on their networks with a simulator that enables changes in services—such as activations, deactivations, or modifications—to flow seamlessly between the billing and provisioning applications. Expanded support for GSM roaming standard TAP version 3.10 and CDMA roaming standard CIBER enables operators to leverage advances in roaming standards to increase revenues while reducing the cost of offering new roaming capabilities.
Pricing Center Simplifies Convergent Pricing
The new Pricing Center is an integrated pricing configuration suite with enhanced usability and unified operational tools designed to expedite new offerings. The application suite is built upon Portal’s next-generation Java application framework, which allows it to be centrally deployed across an organization and eliminates the need for hands-on interaction with each desktop during an upgrade. In addition, a new pricing utility facilitates smooth migration from the test environment to production environment. With Portal’s new Pricing Center, operators are further equipped to increase their competitive advantage by rapidly launching, evaluating, and modifying new service offerings on the fly without increasing their cost structure or overburdening IT resources.
TelcoOne Eliminates Integration Costs
The TelcoOne solution integrates Portal’s convergent billing platform with Siebel Communications, which enables service providers to manage, synchronize and coordinate sales, marketing, and customer service across all communication channels and points of customer contact. This integration builds upon the extensive functionality contained within each of these best-of-breed applications to dramatically reduce time to market. Based upon industry standards and web services, TelcoOne reduces the need for customers to create expensive, one-off integrations between customer relationship management and billing applications by leveraging Siebel Business Integration Applications and Universal Application Network (UAN).
“TelcoOne represents a new breed of total solution designed to reduce IT environment complexity and overhead while uniting previously disparate enterprise applications for enhanced customer satisfaction,” said Kevin Nix, group vice president industry applications, Siebel Systems. “Working together, Siebel and Portal are changing the way carriers and service providers can leverage technology to reduce operational costs and customer churn.”
The new release is available immediately to Portal customers who are using the current version of the product. TelcoOne is supported with Infranet 6.5, Siebel Communications 7.5, and Siebel UAN 2.0.
