MACROMEDIA STUDIO MX REDUCES DEVELOPMENT TIME, COSTS

EMI Music Canada, Gulfstream, and MoMA all benefit from streamlined development using Macromedia MX products

Utrecht , June 11 2003 - Macromedia (Nasdaq: MACR) today announced that Macromedia Studio MX has led to significant cost savings, shortened development time, and increased productivity for customers including EMI Music Canada, Gulfstream Aerospace, and The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Macromedia Studio MX is a suite of integrated tools that provides all you need to build everything from simple web pages to rich Internet applications. Through June 30, customers in North America buying full-priced commercial versions of Macromedia Studio MX (for Macintosh) or Macromedia Studio MX Plus (for Windows) are eligible for a $100 rebate. EMI Music Canada had a big challenge when it came to redesigning its two marketing sites, Capitol Music Canada (http://www.capitolmusic.ca/) and Virgin Music Canada (http://www.virginmusic.ca/). Both sites had not seen a significant redesign in more than seven years and relied on an older architecture of static pages. Since their re-launch, the Virgin and Capitol Music Canada sites have seen traffic increase by 400 percent. Their weekly newsletters, powered by MacromediaÒ DreamweaverÒ MX templates, has seen subscriptions more than double.

"Macromedia Studio MX products work alongside our .NET and .ASP pages to provide content on a minute-by-minute basis," said Jeff Coleman, director of new media, EMI Music Canada. "We've gone from sites a dozen screens in depth to sites with more than ten thousand product pages, with Macromedia Flash MX on each and every page. Gulfstream, the world standard in business aviation, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, uses Macromedia Studio MX to develop the website that promotes its line of business jet aircraft. The company employs Macromedia FlashÔ MX to deliver various microsites and landing pages to augment its existing advertising campaigns and its corporate website, Gulfstream.com. For its Gulfstream 200 road show campaign, entitled The Tail of G200 Cities, (http://www.owng200.com/), Gulfstream selected Macromedia Flash to produce an interactive map showing where potential buyers of its G200 large-cabin, mid-range business jet aircraft could view the airplane on its east and west coast tours of North America.  The G200 campaign has been Gulfstream's most successful microsite to date. Gulfstream is distributing CD-ROMs created using Macromedia Flash MX, Macromedia Flash Remoting MX, and Macromedia DirectorÒ MX technology that will provide additional information on the G200 aircraft.

At a different landing page, (http://www.thegulfstreamexperienceindex.com), Gulfstream used Macromedia Flash MX to deliver an interactive presentation that enables potential buyers to calculate the value of competing business jet aircraft using The Gulfstream Ownership Experience Index.

"Gulfstream used Macromedia Studio MX technology to highlight our brand online and to deliver compelling, interactive content," said William Dent, manager, interactive marketing, Gulfstream. "Macromedia MX products reduce the time it takes to develop content and give us the results we need. The reaction to our online campaigns has been very impressive."

The Museum of Modern Art (http://www.moma.org/) is the world's foremost modern art museum. MoMA used Macromedia Studio MX to redesign the museum's website into one cohesive, elegant experience rather than the previous site, which had grown organically since its original launch. Using Macromedia Studio MX, MoMA realized budget savings of up to 75 percent due to the product integration. The ability of online visitors to more easily find information reduced incoming calls and messages by up to 80 percent after the site launched. Customers were also finding the information they sought faster, as the number of clicks went down by 70 percent. Using Macromedia ContributeÔ, MoMA also enables non-technical users to quickly and safely update website content.

"MoMA was able to maintain a high level of expression and deliver a refined and efficient site using Macromedia Studio MX," said K Mita, associate director of digital media, MoMA. "By building a template-based site using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, we were able to draw from a common pool of imagination without having to alienate our less-technical users. Using Macromedia Flash MX was the icing to emphasize that sites need not look repetitive and analytical."

Macromedia Studio MX, available for Macintosh, includes Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, Macromedia Flash MX, Macromedia FireworksÒ MX, and Macromedia FreeHandÒ MX. Macromedia Studio MX Plus, a special edition for Windows, includes those same core tools, as well as a developer edition of Macromedia ColdFusionÒ MX, Macromedia Contribute, and Macromedia DevNet Resource Kit Special Edition at no extra cost.
