Stockholm and Paris, June 2nd, 2003: IBM said it had signed an On Demand services agreement with The Electrolux Group, the world's largest producer of indoor and outdoor appliances. The deal, which covers a term of 7 years, will see IBM managing Electrolux's entire European desktop environment, providing their users with Lotus Notes, support, administration and helpdesk service. Electrolux will reap the benefits of IBM's On Demand offerings by availing of the company's variable pricing model whereby Electrolux pay per user as it flexes its business up and down to respond to market conditions and M&A activity. The contract anticipates a likely range over time of between 13,000 and 19,000 desktops.
As part of this agreement, IBM will transform the current PC environment at Electrolux by implementing standardized infrastructure and support organisation. PCs, Local Area Networks and Lotus Notes will be provided together with a support organisation using state-of-the art Tivoli enterprise management tools.
The Electrolux global IT service provider, Electrolux IT Solutions, will be managing the transition process and on-going agreement.
IBM and Electrolux have a value-oriented relationship that spans decades and this announcement represents an important step in the partnership. Electrolux and IBM are also involved in collaborative work around business processes to help Electrolux to accelerate their product development. Commenting on the agreement, Art Cox, Vice President Group IT Staff for Electrolux said "This agreement is the result of an exhaustive review conducted over many months. We chose IBM because they understand our business, they have a flexible approach and because of the cultural fit. We are confident that through this partnership with IBM, we will have a standardized system with higher security at a lower cost and with more efficient usage of our own assets. The agreement will also provide excellent professional development opportunities for the Electrolux employees who transfer to IBM as part of this agreement."
" IBM is committed to delivering innovation on behalf of our customers and we look forward to helping Electrolux take advantage of the best in on-demand technologies and business services. IBM's On Demand solution will enable Electrolux to reduce their fixed assets and increase efficiencies. This deal also moves Electrolux, which has grown partly by acquisition, towards a standard computing infrastructure that will assist in the deployment of common processes to increase synergies across the Electrolux Group." said Mike Fletcher, Global Client Executive, IBM.
As part of this agreement, more than one hundred Electrolux IT employees and hardware assets will transfer to IBM. The anticipated service start date is 1st August.
