ATLANTA and BERLIN (Jan. 29, 2003) – Equant (NYSE: ENT) (Euronext Paris: EQU), an industry leader in data and IP services for multinational businesses, was chosen by the German Federal Foreign Office (www.auswaertiges-amt.de) to interconnect more than 100 of its sites worldwide. The agreement runs until 2008, with an extension option for another three years.
Equant’s solution for the Federal Foreign Office will use Equant LAN Access to create a global virtual private network that will enable German embassies and consulates across the globe to communicate cost effectively and in confidence with each other and the central sites of the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin and Bonn. Equant was selected because it is the only provider with the capability to link all sites through a single, unified international data network.
To ensure smooth project delivery and implementation, Equant will also provide extensive project management services covering project assessment, implementation planning and final project report. Equant will also provide enhanced customer service management services including information management, quality management, change management and performance management.
Support for the German Federal Foreign Office will be provided via a single point of contact that provides a dedicated interface in Germany. This direct interface into Equant logs and tracks all service interaction between Equant and the Federal Foreign Office, ensuring prompt action concerning moves, adds and changes as well as rapid resolution of faults.
The German Federal Foreign Office joins more than 2,300 multinational corporations and organizations, with 25,000+ locations, that rely on Equant LAN Access as a turn-key solution for private, fully managed data network services. Equant LAN Access is based on managed routers with LAN interfaces on customer premises, interconnecting customer sites via Equant Frame Relay or Equant ATM.
“We are proud to have been selected by the German Federal Foreign Office,” said Didier J. Delepine, Equant president and CEO. “This new partnership with the German Federal Foreign Office crystallizes our continuous success in Germany. We recognize that governments and multinational corporations have the same need for robust and secure networking backed by high quality customer service.”
