Nieuwegein, The Netherlands, 19 November 2002 - CMG Wireless Data Solutions, the global leader in competitive edge messaging solutions, today announced that Telecom Italia SpA, the leading global fixed and wireless operator, has selected CMG as the main supplier of wireless messaging solutions across the 15 divisions of the Telecom Italia Group in South America and Europe. The agreement includes delivery of CMG's Multimedia Messaging Service Centre (MMSC) and CMG's Short Messaging Service Centre (SMSC).
"We are very excited about this agreement as it extends our long and successful relationship with one of the leading operators in the South American and European markets," says Thomas Ivarson, President of CMG Wireless Data Solutions. "The agreement strengthens our position as the leader in wireless data and is in line with our business expectations for this year. Together with the Telecom Italia Group, we shall continue to shape the future of wireless data services as we move from 2G to 2.5G and on to 3G."
CMG Wireless Data Solutions, worldwide leader in Messaging Solutions, is pleased to announce that Telecom Italia Mobile selected CMG for the supply of MMS and SMS solutions, as result of a global agreement whereby CMG is positioned as Telecom Italia Group's worldwide partner of Wireless Messaging Solutions.
The Telecom Italia Group has used CMG's SMSC for the last seven years across its divisions worldwide, generating the bulk of its wireless data revenues. Telecom Italia Mobile's wireless data revenues accounted for 7.1% of ARPU in 2001, and are expected to grow significantly over the coming years following the introduction of CMG's messaging solutions. CMG will work closely with the Group to design and develop new wireless messaging services.
Seven out of the 10 largest operators in the world currently use CMG's messaging solution, including Telecom Italia, Vodafone, Telefónica, Orange and T-Mobile. More than half of the world's mobile data revenues - excluding Japan - are generated on CMG's SMSC systems. CMG has agreed more than 17 contracts for commercial deployment of MMSCs around the world to date.
