The Hague, Aug. 26, 2002 - WRQ, Inc. today announced that Schenker AB, a recognized leader in logistics and transportation management solutions in Sweden, has selected WRQ Verastream to streamline customer service operations. Verastream will be used to integrate legacy host systems that track valuable customer data and logistics information. The goal of the project is to simplify the work of the customer service personnel while improving service by decreasing call wait time and increasing the number of calls serviced.
Prior to working with WRQ, customer service representatives had to access a number of different legacy systems in order to answer a single customer call. Not only was it difficult to move between the various information systems and applications, users often had to define repeatedly the search criteria to track customer information. For Schenker's users, it was critical that the processes and data be integrated.
"We knew that WRQ could deliver high-quality, stable software based on our experience with the company," said Ulf Pettersson, project manager IT development at Schenker AB in Sweden. "That made WRQ Verastream the natural choice when we decided to integrate our call center operations. Searching multiple legacy systems to track down the right information with frequent access problems was frustrating for both our staff and customers. By integrating our existing information assets, Verastream helped us solve that problem and create simplified views of each customer."
Schenker has 28 customer service units in Sweden, which all have a variety of systems installed such as AS/400, UNIX and other mainframes. Verastream's multi-platform capability helped make it possible for Schenker to integrate the systems and at the same time choose an interface adapted to their specific business and technology needs. As the existing code and business processes are reused and adapted to the new customer service system, the legacy host systems and applications remain unaltered; current infrastructure and existing investments are leveraged.
The project has been done in cooperation with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young.
