Hopling Technologies Receives Order from Kenya Data Networks

  • After extensive testing concluded with successful pilot conducted in August Kenya Data Networks placed a 450.000 euro order, through Connection N&C Corporation (CN&C), Hopling Technologies’ distributor for the EMEA territory.
  • First phase consists of 300 Xnet Viper nodes each equipped with 4 radios for wireless Mesh connectivity, WiFi Access and Mobile WiMAX mobility.
  • Mesh nodes based on the recently announced Hopling Metro Topology that harnesses the power of wireless Mesh and Mobile WiMAX and ensures true WiFi interoperability and Mobile WiMAX connectivity.
Almere, September 25, 2007 - Hopling Technologies, a rapidly growing leader in IP-based wireless networking equipment for enterprises, operators and service providers, today announced that it has signed an overall framework agreement with Kenya Data Networks, through Connection N&C Corporation (CN&C), master distributor of Hopling Technologies wireless mesh networking equipment in the EMEA territory for the delivery of mesh nodes, access controllers and management systems. Also, Kenya Data Networks has been appointed as Value Added Reseller (VAR) by CN&C. This VAR agreement licenses KDN to market the Hopling Technologies’ products throughout the African continent.

After completing the successful testing phase, Kenya Data Networks ordered the first 300 Xnet Viper multi-radio systems, Hopling Technologies’ flagship product. The Xnet Viper mesh node is specially designed for citywide deployments and offers superior features that make it the best choice for large-scale integrated municipality mobility solutions. Hopling Technologies’ solution brings features like the Virtual Gateway (VGW) including multiple SSIDs and multiple VLANs, to be used by a variety of “virtual” operators in the KDN infrastructure, and full back office functionality, which was not offered until today.

Kenyan cities will be provided with superior advantages, like seamless coverage, high throughput and a ubiquitous of client devices. Deployments will start in September and the cities of Mombasa, Nairobi and Kisumu will be a part of the first roll out phase.

“Providing full geographic wireless meshed network coverage instantly with the superior and unique equipment of Hopling Technologies, will allow us to distribute Internet to everyone in the country, anytime and anywhere,” said Kai Wulff, Chief Executive Officer of Kenya Data Networks. “The Xnet Viper mesh nodes, in combination with high-performing Xfire Hopgate access controllers and state-of-the-art network management systems, offer KDN the key to reach the whole population successfully.”

“The leading strategic role of Hopling Technologies in wireless mesh networking equipment for citywide deployments is proved again,” said Vicente Arigita, Chief Executive Officer of CN&C. “Based on the Hopling Metro Topology we can offer a complete wireless networking solution and with Hopling Technologies superior equipment, Kenya Data Networks is able to provide the full portfolio of broadband applications and services to its customers.”

“This order is another example of our excellent partnership with CN&C,” said Marinus Koppe, Vice President Channel Sales EMEA of Hopling Technologies. “Leveraging the successful partnership with CN&C, we are confident to capitalize on our strong pipeline building the strongest network of wireless mesh solutions of Hopling Technologies throughout the African continent.”
