Novell Launches High Performance Computing Linux Competency Network for Partners
- Novell's first ever appearance at International Supercomputer Conference

Heidelberg, Germany ? 23rd June 2004 ?At the International Supercomputer Conference (ISC) today, Novell announced the launch of its High Performance Computing (HPC) Linux Competency Network, a program designed to attract technology partners with supercomputing expertise as well as fellow travellers keen to tap into the growing market for supercomputing solutions.
At the show, Novell®, Intel and SGI will jointly demonstrate innovative, industry-standards based supercomputing technology usingIntel Itanium 2 Architecture, Intel's newest software engineering tools and a SGI Altix 350 shared-memory HPC system running on Novell's market leading SUSE® LINUX Enterprise Serverplatform.
Today, high performance computing is an integral part of enterprise computing and not simply confined to the educational, research and defence sectors where it originated. Industries today including finance, pharmaceutical and electronics need the supercomputing muscle to develop better products and accelerate time to market. Participation in Novell's HPC Linux Competency Network will enable partners to share their supercomputing knowledge.In addition, new companies joining Novell's HPC Linux Competency Network will be offered six months' free access to Novell PartnerNet® for Technology Partners Programme and will enjoy benefits such as access to Novell's marketing leading SUSE LINUX technology, world-class services and support and co-marketing opportunities. Through cooperation withcompanies likeFujitsu Siemens Computers, HP, IBM, Intel and SGI, part of Novell's HPC Linux Competency Network, Novell aims to expand the network by adding over 50 new industry leaders by the end of the year.
