JUNIPER NETWORKS EXTENDS SERVICE DEPLOYMENT SYSTEM TO ALL ROUTING PLATFORMS FOR END-TO-END SERVICE CONTROL
SDX-300 Service Deployment System Enables New Service Creation Models for an Assured Experience
Schiphol-Rijk, 21 juni 2004 -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that it has extended the functionality of the SDX-300 Service Deployment System to include support for the JUNOS-based M-, T-, and new J-series routing platforms. With the availability of the SDX-300 software across the entire routing portfolio, Juniper Networks offers new opportunities for providers to rapidly create and deploy services end-to-end with higher levels of assurance, customization and flexibility for enterprise customers.
The SDX-300 Service Deployment System gives service providers the ability to offer their customers a customizable web portal as an element of a self-care service or managed service offering. With this portal, customers can choose options for bandwidth on demand, firewall and NAT services, dynamic VPN membership and can set application level Quality of Service (QoS) to support mission-critical business requirements. In addition, the SDX-300 is a powerful accounting tool for collecting network usage data for network control and billing purposes.
"With the E-series and SDX-300 deployed in our DSL network, we've transformed our service offerings from best effort Internet access into a suite of attractive DSL access plans that enable us to target specific vertical markets with bundled secure access and QoS-driven content capabilities," said Murray Milner, CTO at Telecom New Zealand. "The SDX-300 solution provides value-added services that position us as a strategic supplier with direct positive impact on our customers' business. The addition of the SDX-300 to the M-series routing platform will enable us to consider bringing the same level of sophistication to other services with customer self-care capabilities that will extend our reach and bring new value to our customers."
"With the SDX-300 now available across Juniper Networks' routing platforms, the promise of quality and an assured experience can be delivered from the customer edge through the core of the network," said Kevin Mitchell, directing analyst at Infonetics Research. "The SDX-300 enables service providers to move beyond best-effort Internet access and basic VPN services with improved quality, flexibility and manageability for increased revenue opportunities and competitive differentiation."
In addition to corporate VPN services and dedicated Internet access, a number of value-added services can be offered combining various SDX features. These include tiered Internet access, tiered VPN access, video conferencing, multimedia, integrated voice and data services and managed service offerings, which are strong differentiators for carriers to attract and retain enterprise customers.
"The SDX has been providing broadband service creation opportunities for our worldwide E-series customers for the past four years," said Karen Livoli, senior product marketing manager, Juniper Networks. "With this latest release, our existing M- and T-series and new J-series customers have a powerful new tool to create value-added services for their enterprise customers that offers a unique competitive advantage. Intelligent routers combined with advanced platforms, such as the SDX-300 are critical tools for building Infranets, which deliver predictable levels of performance and reliability."
