Siebel Systems Names Mike Lawrie CEO; Tom Siebel to Continue as Chairman
Global Technology Executive Strengthens Siebel Systems' Executive Team
San Mateo, Calif.*May 4, 2004*Siebel Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SEBL) today announced that its Board of Directors has named Michael J. Lawrie as Chief Executive Officer. Mike will assume his CEO responsibilities effective May 4, 2004. Thomas M. Siebel will continue as Chairman of the Board.
Mike Lawrie is a highly accomplished business executive with more than 26 years of experience in building and running global operations for IBM. Mr.
Lawrie, 50, was most recently Senior Vice President and Group Executive, Sales and Distribution, at IBM and led the company's global operations, responsible for delivering more than $80 billion of annual revenue.
Tom Siebel will continue to serve as Chairman and as a full-time employee at Siebel Systems, leading the Board of Directors and assisting Mike with the leadership transition. Mr. Siebel will continue to provide input on Siebel Systems' business strategies and foster relationships with customers and partners. He will also represent Siebel Systems with government and business leaders.

Mike Lawrie began his career at IBM in 1977. Since then, he has held numerous sales, marketing, development and financial management positions around the world. In 1997 he was named IBM's General Manager, Personal Software Products, and later headed the Network Computing Software Division at a global level. In 1998 Mr. Lawrie became General Manager for IBM in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), where he led a team of over 90,000 employees with responsibility for sales, distribution and services operations in 124 countries. Mr. Lawrie assumed his most recent responsibilities as Senior Vice President and Group Executive for IBM's global sales and distribution in 2001.
Mike Lawrie received a BA degree in History from Ohio University in 1975, and an MBA degree in Marketing from Drexel University in 1977. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Ohio University and a member of NTT DoCoMO's U.S. Board of Directors.
