Amsterdam, 22 augustus 2003--Drankproducent Diageo, marktleider en producent van merken zoals Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker en Guinness, en IBM hebben vandaag bekendgemaakt dat zij een zevenjarige samenwerking zijn aangaan. IBM neemt Diageo's wereldwijde ICT-infrastructuur over en neemt de transformatie hiervan voor zijn rekening.
De afgelopen jaren onderging de wereldwijde premium spirits industrie een periode van intensieve consolidatie. Een ontwikkeling die geleid werd door Diageo (fusie Guiness en Grand Met, integratie Guiness en UDV, acquisitie Seagrams). Het resultaat van vijf jaar fusies en acquisities heeft geleid tot het feit dat Diageo´s infrastructuur services op dit moment op verschillende manieren in verschillende markten worden geleverd.
Met een uitgebreid wereldwijd programma werken IBM en Diageo aan standaardisatie en simplificatieom veilige en flexibele service te leveren, waarmee een basis wordt gelegd voor e-business en toekomstige groei.

IBM AND DIAGEO SIGN AN AGREEMENT FOR ITS INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES
London, 22nd August, 2003: Diageo, the world's leading premium drinks business, and IBM today announced that the two companies have signed a seven-year agreement that will see IBM take over and transform Diageo's Information Systems Infrastructure Services worldwide. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Through an extensive global programme, IBM will work with Diageo to drive standardisation and simplification towards a secure and flexible service, creating an infrastructure for e-business as a foundation for future business growth. Through IBM's global capability, the company will provide Diageo with a single operating environment, a single help-desk facility, a transformed global network, and a consolidated data centre and server environment.
The agreement will enable Diageo to leverage supplier critical mass and utilise the expertise of the number one provider of information technology services to meet its Information Systems strategic targets. Speaking of the agreement, Robin Dargue, CIO, Diageo said: " This agreement will help underpin Diageo's drive for consistent and sustainable profit growth by providing a simpler, more efficient and flexible IS infrastructure."
