Herndon, VA, USA - October 15, 2002 - Baan, the leading enterprise application provider for industrial enterprises and part of Invensys plc, has appointed David W. Wangler as Senior Vice President of Marketing. In his new post, Wangler will be responsible for strategic marketing planning, industry marketing, alliances, product marketing, analyst relations, marketing communications, field marketing and key customer relations for the iBaan suite of enterprise solutions for manufacturing industries.
Wangler was formerly Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for SKYVA International in Medford, Mass. His most recent post at SKYVA included responsibility for all sales and marketing activities at the supply chain management and e-business infrastructure software company. For six years prior to that he held several marketing and management posts with Wonderware Corporation, now also a member of the Invensys Production Management Division. Wangler most recently was Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Production Software Business (formerly Marcam Solutions), based in Newton, Mass. He earlier held posts as Managing Director of Wonderware Manufacturing Systems, as Director of Global Strategic Sales and as Marketing Manager for Manufacturing Execution System Products, all located in Irvine, Calif.
He will be reporting to Joe Cowan, Chief Operations Officer at Baan. "We're pleased to have someone of David Wangler's long experience in marketing to the manufacturing, process and hybrid industries join us in this critical position at Baan," said Cowan. "We anticipate that under David's marketing direction, our market penetration for the iBaan suite will proceed even more strongly."
Prior to joining Wonderware, Wangler ran product development and a systems integration group for municipal water and wastewater supplier Turbitrol, in Atlanta, GA, and before that was a manufacturing systems development engineer with the Packard Electric Division of General Motors. He earned his BSEE and MSEE degrees from Ohio State University.
Henk de Ruiter, who has been Baan's Senior Vice President Marketing & Alliances since September 2000, has decided to pursue other interests outside of Baan, due to differences of business opinions. "Henk de Ruiter has made significant contributions to Baan and we wish him well in his future endeavors," said Laurens van der Tang, President, Baan.
