Amsterdam, September 26, 2019 - Software Improvement Group (SIG), the independent authority on software quality, announced today the winners of its inaugural client awards at the first annual SIG Symposium. The awards recognize the exceptional leadership, vision and results demonstrated by organizations in gaining control over the maintainability, reliability and security of their application landscapes.
SIG presented Eurobank, Siemens and Rijkswaterstaat with awards in three categories:
Master of Software Health
Winner: Eurobank
The Master of Software Health award is presented to the client which has implemented a structure across its organization to facilitate clean code development and cultivate awareness around the health of its applications. Nearly all Eurobank systems have received a four-star quality rating from SIG (out of 5 possible stars). The company demonstrates a strong drive to maintain a software quality level above market average in order to guide the bank smoothly through its digital transformation. Eurobank puts a clear focus on the professionalization of its products and processes so that its customers can confidently rely on its technology.
Industry Pioneer
Winner: Siemens
The Industry Pioneer award is presented to the client or partner with the most integrated software quality application, thereby serving as an example for its industry. Siemens Digital Industries Software (formerly Siemens PLM), partner of SIG, provides end-to-end solutions for smart product design, manufacturing and product verification (“digital twin”) by automotive and aerospace manufacturers; software code quality has been added as an integral part of the day-to-day business. Siemens incorporates software quality measurements in the process as early as possible, setting the tone for all vendors in the industry.
Legacy Modernizer
Winner: Rijkswaterstaat
The Legacy Modernizer award is presented to the client which has exhibited exceptional software modernization efforts. Rijkswaterstaat, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, has undertaken impressive measures to modernize its nearly 30-year-old system, IVS90, which provides guidance to ships. The maintenance of this system became expensive and complex; the new system, IVS Next, was therefore rebuilt from scratch and has already received a four-star quality rating from SIG. As a result, Rijkswaterstaat is now able to maintain IVS Next with lower costs and risks.
