NEW YORK -- July 17, 2002 -- The Macintosh Business Unit at Microsoft Corp. today announced a Microsoft® Office v. X for Mac triple header, empowering Mac OS X users to get even more out of the leading productivity software for less. Unveiled this morning during Macworld Conference & Expo in New York were a new Palm Handheld Synchronization add-in for Entourage X; the Get It Together promotion, offering up to $100 off the purchase of Office v. X when it's purchased with any new Macintosh computer; and a Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) client, allowing remote connection and access to Microsoft Windows-based computers from virtually any network connection using a Macintosh computer.
"The Macintosh Business Unit is constantly searching for opportunities to meet and exceed our Mac customers' needs," said Tim McDonough, marketing director of the Macintosh Business Unit (MacBU) at Microsoft Corp. "We are delighted to announce increased freedom and mobility with Palm Handheld Synchronization for Entourage X, an opportunity for customers to save when they buy a new Mac and Office v. X together, as well as a new level of Windows compatibility with the RDC client."
Palm Handheld Synchronization with Entourage X
Office v. X users who use Entourage X as their e-mail program and personal information manager can now synchronize or transfer their calendar information, tasks, contacts and notes with their Palm in seconds. The new Palm Handheld Synchronization add-in for Palm handheld devices and Entourage X makes it simple to keep track of busy schedules and stay in touch with friends, family and business associates while mobile. Palm Handheld Synchronization for Entourage X is flexible so users can choose what to synchronize to reduce the memory usage on their Palm. It also ensures that users have fewer duplicates of their data. The free* English download is available at http://www.microsoft.com/mac/. French, German, Spanish and Swedish versions will be available July 22. The Japanese version will be available July 29.
Get It Together Office v. X Promotion
From July 15 through September 30, 2002, consumers who buy Office v. X for Mac and any new Macintosh computer will receive a mail-in rebate of up to $100 (U.S.)/$150 (CDN). Those who purchase Office v. X for Mac Upgrade and any new Macintosh will receive a $50 (U.S.)/$75 (CDN) mail-in rebate.

The new RDC client enables Mac users to access and run their Windows computer and Windows applications right from their Macintosh computer. A viable solution for companies with Macintosh computers that need to collaborate with Windows users using non-Mac applications, RDC allows access to Windows-based data, applications and network resources by connecting remotely from virtually anywhere. RDC is a particularly helpful interim solution for those small-business Mac users who need to access Microsoft Exchange on a corporate network and share calendar information with colleagues. The free* download of the English version of RDC is available at http://www.microsoft.com/mac/. French, German and Japanese versions will be available July 31.
