Master Data Management marks new direction for China’s automotive manufacturing industry
Stibo Systems, the leading provider of multi-domain Master Data Management (MDM) solutions, recently announced the initial implementation of its award-winning STEP MDM solution by Chongqing-based automobile manufacturer SGMW.
SGMW adopted STEP to help meet its management’s requirements for high production standards and product traceability by improving the efficiency of managing its core business information.
While this project marks the first deployment of STEP in China’s domestic automotive industry, Stibo Systems’ multi-domain MDM solution has proved successful with a number of international clients in the automotive space, including Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and GM.
Armed with this experience, Stibo Systems’ team of implementation consultants worked with SGMW to establish a core data exchange platform. This enabled the smooth exchange of data within the company’s internal systems, and between the HQ and its enterprise business systems, thus ensuring the fast delivery of unique, complete, and reliable core master data across the business.
A complex application environment, with various application systems such as ERP, inventory management and material-driven management, will inevitably lead to a diversity of data sources. As a result, employees at all levels are unable to maintain, manage and apply related data from a single perspective.
Mr. Liu Dewei, head of the project at SGMW, noted that STEP represented a single platform offering most functions ‘out-of-the-box’, and enabling the management of all of a company’s master data, integrating various application components, and meeting requirements for both front-end and back-end master data management.
He said, “We store and manage various master data ranging from information on materials, suppliers, logistics, manufacturing, purchases and vehicle production. There was a real need to improve the consistency and availability of SGMW’s master data and provide reliable sources for our enterprise systems. Stibo Systems’ implementation team offered constructive suggestions and solutions based on their rich experience, ensuring that the project went smoothly.”
