Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), leverancier van opensourceoplossingen, kondigt aan dat het telecommunicatiebedrijf
Alcatel-Lucent het Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform, dat gebaseerd is op Red Hat Enterprise Linux en Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM), gaat inzetten als het platform voor zijn Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) oplossing, CloudBand.
NFV-oplossingen gebruiken virtualisatietechnologie om verschillende types netwerkapparatuur te consolideren op
industry-standard high volume servers, switches en storage. Het Alcatel-Lucent’s CloudBand NFV platform biedt een nieuwe manier voor het ontwerpen, gebruiken en beheren van netwerkdiensten. Daarnaast ondersteunt het een flexibele netwerkinfrastructuur die nodig is om complexe applicaties en diensten naar de cloud te verplaatsen.
Alcatel-Lucent koos bewust voor het Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform om de CloudBand Nodes te beheren. Dit direct bruikbare alles-in-één compute, storage en netwerk node systeem werkt samen met het CloudBand Management Systeem, evenals alle andere OpenStack-enabled nodes. Een andere reden voor de keuze voor Red Hat zijn de mogelijkheden om sneller open innovatie mogelijk te maken.

CloudBand Ecosysteem Programma en Red Hat’s
ISV Partner Programma, waar Alcatel-Lucent een ‘Premier’ partnerstatus heeft. Sinds de introductie van het Red Hat OpenStack Cloud Infrastructuur Partner Network in 2013 heeft Red Hat het grootste ecosysteem samengesteld om het gebruik van commerciële versies van OpenStack te ondersteunen.
