Amsterdam, 18 november 2013 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), leverancier van opensourceoplossingen, kondigt aan dat Stichting Basispoort, een samenwerking van acht belangrijke organisaties in het basisonderwijs, gebruikmaakt van Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform als onderdeel van zijn single-sign-on (SSO) oplossing. Onderwijzers en leerlingen op basisscholen hebben door middel van deze toepassing online toegang tot educatief materiaal. Dit gebeurt via SSO-gebruikersauthenticatie. Deze bewezen technologie van Red Hat vergemakkelijkt het inlogproces voor 1,6 miljoen Nederlandse leerkrachten en leerlingen.
Stichting Basispoort wilde een uniforme single-sign-on oplossing om het voor leerkrachten en leerlingen in het basisonderwijs eenvoudiger te maken om al het digitale lesmateriaal van de aangesloten uitgeverijen dat binnen basisscholen wordt gebruikt te benaderen.
Het ontwerp en het ontwikkelen van de oplossing lag in handen van ISAAC Software Solutions, een Red Hat Advanced Partner. Voor het framework kozen zij Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6, een enterprise-ready open source Java applicatieserver. De benodigde softwarecomponenten voor de oplossing voor Basispoort, zoals SOAP-webservices (Simple Object Access Protocol), Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) en database storage en security, zijn in Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform geïmplementeerd.
