Amsterdam en Boston – RED HAT SUMMIT 2013 – 11 juni 2013 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), leverancier van opensourceoplossingen kondigt de commerciële beschikbaarheid aan van OpenShift Online, zijn public Platform-as-a-Service cloud-oplossing. Sinds het
debuut voor de ontwikkelaars in 2011 zijn meer dan 200.000 applicaties ontwikkeld op OpenShift Online. Gebruikers hebben toegang tot Red Hat’s bekroonde Global Support Service. Met dit nieuwe aanbod is Red Hat een van de weinige technologieleveranciers die een volledige familie van open PaaS-oplossingen biedt, te weten: OpenShift Origin, het open source PaaS-project; OpenShift Online, een commercieel public PaaS aanbod; en OpenShift Enterprise, een on-premise private PaaS-product.
Met OpenShift Online kunnen ontwikkelaars snel innovatieve applicaties in de publieke cloud bouwen, lanceren en hosten. De elastische, meertalige PaaS-architectuur van OpenShift Online automatiseert de provisioning, beheer en scaling van applicaties, zodat ontwikkelaars zich kunnen richten op het schrijven van de code voor deze applicaties. OpenShift ondersteunt meerdere talen, waaronder Java, Ruby, PHP, Python, Node.js en Perl. Hierdoor is de drempel voor ontwikkelaars laag en kunnen ze sneller en beter programmeren. OpenShift Online is opgebouwd uit het OpenShift Origin open source project en maakt gebruik van Red Hat Enterprise Linux en het SELinux subsysteem voor een veilige, multi-tenant architectuur. Gebruikers en ISV-partners kunnen profiteren van extensions van derden of ze zelf bouwen via OpenShift’s extensible, pluggable cartridge framework.
Beschikbaarheid en prijzen
Ontwikkelaars hebben tegen een maandelijkse vergoeding toegang tot technische ondersteuning en extra platform-tools. Deze Silver service tier voor OpenShift Online door Red Hat is vanaf 11 juni beschikbaar in Noord-Amerika en vanaf volgende week in Europa. Prijzen starten vanaf $20,- per maand en er kan ook in euro’s betaald worden. De dienst zal in de komende maanden beschikbaar zijn in andere landen.
