Amsterdam, 28 november 2012 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), leverancier van opensourceoplossingen, maakt de beschikbaarheid bekend van OpenShift Enterprise. Hiermee zet het bedrijf een nieuwe stap in zijn Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) strategie. OpenShift Enterprise is ontworpen om on-premise in datacentra van klanten te installeren of in private, publieke of hybride clouds. Klanten kunnen werkprocessen van ontwikkelaars stroomlijnen en standaardiseren en de snelheid van de IT-dienstverlening verbeteren.
OpenShift Enterprise biedt zakelijke gebruikers, met toegang tot een cloudgebaseerd applicatieplatform, de mogelijkheid applicaties te maken die ze nodig hebben en ze te laten draaien in een cloudarchitectuur. Het automatiseert veel van de provisioning en het systeembeheer van de applicatieplatform stack op een manier dat het IT operations team makkelijker kan voldoen aan de toenemende vraag voor nieuwe applicatiediensten. OpenShift Enterprise biedt ook on-demand, elastische, schaalbare en volledig geconfigureerde ontwikkeling van applicaties en een test en hosting omgeving voor applicatieontwikkelaars zodat ze zich kunnen richten op het coderen van nieuwe applicatiediensten. Met de Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) benadering biedt OpenShift Enterprise ook betrouwbare beveiliging en multi-tenancy met de mogelijkheid om de nodes instances onder te verdelen.
OpenShift Enterprise is gebouwd op een stack van op open source gebaseerde Red Hat technologieën, waaronder Red Hat Enterprise Linux, JBoss Enterprise Application Platform en OpenShift Origin. Doordat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 6 is inbegrepen, is OpenShift Enterprise de enige Java EE-6 gecertificeerde on-premise PaaS die voor enterprises beschikbaar is. OpenShift Enterprise profiteert ook van de consistente innovatie en bijdragen van de community. OpenShift Enterprise ondersteunt meerdere talen, waaronder Java, Ruby, Python, PHP en Perl en omvat een cartridge-based architectuur zodat klanten hun eigen middleware diensten kunnen gebruiken.
Beschikbaarheid
OpenShift Enterprise is per direct beschikbaar met ondersteuning van Red Hat. Het product wordt in eerste instantie aangeboden in Noord-Amerika, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en continentaal Europa en er zijn plannen voor wereldwijde beschikbaarheid in de toekomst. De OpenShift PaaS online dienst blijft beschikbaar in developer preview via https://openshift.redhat.com.
