hubergroup ROLLS OUT BT One to Unify its GLOBAL communications
BT, one of the world’s leading providers of communications solutions and services, today announced that hubergroup, an international manufacturer of printing inks, has just completed the roll-out of a high-availability, unified communications solution based on the BT One portfolio.
In the first phase of the delivery of a contract signed in August 2012, the solution provides BT One Enterprise Lync services for 1,000 hubergroup users. The solution covers traditional telephony and VoIP, audio and video conferencing, instant messaging as well as presence management and the integration of devices from a wide variety of manufacturers. The group's 40 subsidiaries are connected to each other via the BT network. The main services are hosted in a BT data centre in Frankfurt am Main.
“Our business is spread over every continent. BT’s comprehensive solution enables our employees to collaborate more easily and with more flexibility,” said Siegmund Burg, Head of IT Backend and IT Communication at hubergroup. “All communications will now be managed via a single platform. Distributed work can be carried out easily across country and time zones.”
Consulting, integration and service are provided by BT Advise, BT’s consultancy and professional services unit. Following a “BT One Quickstart”, an initial assessment by BT Advise experts, BT designed a solution that meets the customer’s requirements and leverages its legacy infrastructure. The BT One solution was rolled out after a successful “proof of concept” covering test users in 21 subsidiaries of hubergroup around the world. A survey showed that the ability to make video calls was the most popular feature among the test users.
“Thanks to the hosted solution BT has designed for us, there was no need to invest in our own hardware, and we were able to start right away with the support of highly skilled BT Advise professionals,” said Mr. Burg.
BT One Enterprise Lync, based on Microsoft Lync, brings together all of an organisation’s communication channels in a single application. For hubergroup employees, this means that they can see at any time which is the best way to reach out to their colleagues. Instant messaging, audio and video conferencing are available in real time and in HD quality, allowing parallel desktop views and document sharing. Using the “federation” feature, hubergroup’s employees can also work more closely with external users like suppliers. Users can now see whether their peers in other companies are available and get in touch with them with a simple mouse click.
