Riverbed, de IT-performance company, integreert Riverbed® Stingray™ Traffic Manager - haar software en application delivery controller (ADC) - met VMware® vFabric™ Application Director, een hybride cloud-applicatie provisioning-oplossing. Met deze oplossing kunnen klanten blueprints van applicaties ontwerpen die sneller en efficiënter faciliteren en schalen in een hybride cloud-omgeving. Deze blueprints kunnen applicatie delivery-functies van de Stingray Traffic Manager-software gebruiken voor applicatiebevoorrading tussen cloud-diensten en om specifieke applicaties met standaard gebruiksinstellingen herhaaldelijk te implementeren.
De ontwikkeling en verplaatsing van applicaties verandert continu en wordt complexer wanneer organisaties overstappen naar de cloud. De behoefte aan real-time updates van applicatiefunctionaliteit neemt toe en de vraag naar continue beschikbaarheid en betrouwbaarheid zet applicatieontwikkelaars onder druk. Deze uitdagingen kosten organisaties, die hun applicaties gebruiken en updaten in de cloud ,veel tijd en geld. Stingray Traffic Manager-software voorziet organisaties van een oplossing voor het kostenefficiënt versnellen, automatiseren, uitrollen en schalen van clouds.
VMware vFabric Application Director vereenvoudigt de ontwikkeling van applicatie-uitroltypologieën die geschikt zijn voor private, publieke en hybride cloud-omgevingen. Dit dankzij het gebruik van uitrol-blueprints van applicaties. Door de integratie van Stingray Traffic Manager-software met vFabric Application Director kunnen applicatieontwikkelaars er eenvoudig voor kiezen hun applicaties in de cloud te versnellen en load balancen door middel van een ‘drag and drop’-interface. De oplossing is beschikbaar via VMware Cloud Application Management Marketplacebeta. De marketplace maakt het voor VMware-partners, klanten en eindgebruikers mogelijk om blueprints van applicaties te ontwikkelen en te publiceren die daadwerkelijk verplaatsbaar zijn tussen clouds. Dit geeft applicatie- en infrastructuurteams de flexibiliteit, keuzevrijheid en een collaboratieve omgeving voor het implementeren van een toekomstgerichte IT-strategie voor cloud-applicatie delivery.
Riverbed zal ook andere productleveranciers in VMware’s Cloud Applications Management Marketplacebeta betrekken om de oplossing uit te breiden, beginnend bij Zend. Zend is leverancier van software en diensten voor ontwikkeling, gebruik en beheer van bedrijfskritische PHP-applicaties in de cloud. Deze samenwerking heeft geleid tot een blueprint voor de Magento e-commerce store op een geclusterde hoge beschikbaarheidsserver van Zend. Klanten die PHP-applicaties in de cloud met een hoge performance nodig hebben, kunnen deze nieuwe blueprints gebruiken, zodat ze minder tijd en geld kwijt zijn aan applicatieontwikkeling.
De Riverbed ADC-oplossing, is een veelomvattende ‘layer 7’-software-ADC die naadloos kan worden ingezet in private, publieke en hybride clouds. Stingray Traffic Manager-software biedt eenvoudige scripts, een gebruiksvriendelijke interface en robuuste application programming interfaces (API’s), waarmee de oplossing kan worden beheerd als applicatie en uitgerold als dienst. Deze oplossing is beter geschikt dan een hardware load balancer voor de versnelling van multi-tier applicaties in een virtuele of cloud-omgeving.
