While developed economies have limped through the last few years, emerging economies, such as those in the BRIC region, are growing at a staggering rate. The prices of raw materials continue rise. It stands to reason that business leaders are keen to invest in emerging markets. Currently, China intensifies its activities in Africa to secure its interests. During the session, these and other global developments will be discussed, with specific reference to their impact on economic development in Europe, the role of the business community and, in particular the role of the CFO.
Willem-Jeroen Stevens, CEO of Transparent: "The issues and scenarios that CFOs are facing are huge. An in-depth discussion between political and financial leaders will provide insight for all parties. The power of knowledge-sharing and understanding cannot be underestimated in this regard."
Mando Vroling, CEO of MVRO Management adds: "We would like to facilitate a future-looking dialogue between political-, government and business leaders."
Questions that will be addressed are:
- Which strategy (defensive, offensive, neutral, consolidating, etc.) should the EU use to respond to the given threats and opportunities?
- What instruments does the CFO need, in order to face these challenges?
- Which scenarios do we see?
- What role do the different stakeholders play?
- What role does the CFO plays in this process?
