Gouda, 7 mei, 2012 – Een upgrade van de NETGEAR Genie-App maakt het mogelijk bestanden vanaf een iPhone, iPad of iPod touch op elke netwerk- of usb-printer te printen. Met de nieuwe versie van de app zijn iOS-gebruikers niet meer veroordeeld tot de printers die samenwerken met AirPrint, het onderdeel uit Apple’s besturingssysteem waardoor printers en mobiele apparaten via wifi bestanden uitwisselen. Ook andere printers worden nu herkend door de NETGEAR Genie-app.
NETGEAR Genie is een dashboard, waarmee de consument voor PC’s en Mac-computers hun thuisnetwerk kunnen monitoren, beheren en controleren. Ook verbindingsproblemen binnen het netwerk worden met NETGEAR Genie opgespoord en verholpen. De nieuwe versie van de NETGEAR Genie-app werkt nu samen met elke printer, of deze nu draadloos in verbinding staat met het thuisnetwerk, via usb met een PC, of via een usb-poort van een NETGEAR ReadySHARE router met printmogelijkheden. Zolang de PC of Mac aanstaat, is het mogelijk om met de NETGEAR Genie-app te printen vanaf een iPad, iPhone of iPod touch die zich op hetzelfde netwerk bevinden.
“Voorheen was er een printer met AirPrint-mogelijkheden nodig om te kunnen printen vanaf iPad, iPhone of iPod touch,” zegt Nathan Doodkorte, Retail Business Unit Manager Benelux bij NETGEAR. “Dankzij de upgrade kan nu eenvoudig geprint worden naar de printer thuis vanaf een iPhone, iPad en iPod touch als dat wordt geprint vanaf een PC of Mac.”

netgear.com/genie. NETGEAR Genie is ook te downloaden voor de iPad, iPhone of Android smartphones en tablets via de App Store en Google Play.
