Amersfoort, 1 februari 2012 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), marktleider in opensourceoplossingen, heeft de production lifecycle van Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 en 6 uitgebreid van zeven naar 10 jaar. Hiermee komen ze tegemoet aan de vraag van enterprise klanten die nu extra alternatieven hebben voor de implementatie van hun Red Hat Enterprise Linux besturingssysteem.

Voor sommige IT-omgevingen vereist het upgraden naar een nieuwe versie van een besturingssysteem vooraf een gedetailleerde planning. Red Hat verlengt de levensduur zodat klanten langer op hun huidige versie kunnen blijven. Al vele jaren kiezen enterprises Red Hat als leverancier van hun besturingssysteem vanwege de functionaliteiten en stabiliteit van Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Dit, in combinatie met de support en het brede ecosysteem van gecertificeerde hardwareplatformen en ISV-applicaties van Red Hat partners, maakt het zeer geschikt voor gebruik voor de lange termijn.
