Amersfoort, 14 september 2011 – Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), marktleider in opensourceoplossingen, maakt vandaag bekend dat het de oplossingen van SAP die draaien op Red Hat Enterprise Linux via de Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) van Amazon gaat ondersteunen. Daarnaast is vanaf vandaag Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 support beschikbaar voor SAP Business Applicaties.
'De aankondigingen van vandaag versterken de inspanningen van Red Hat om klanten flexibiliteit te bieden in de keuze van software ten aanzien van cloud computing', zegt Gus Robertson, vice president of business development bij Red Hat.
Amazon EC2 biedt veilige, on-demand, pay-as-you-go, herschaalbare computer capaciteit in de cloud. Het is ontworpen om
web-scale computing te vereenvoudigen voor ontwikkelaars, commerciële ISV's en enterprise IT-organisaties. SAP-klanten kunnen zowel gebruikmaken van Red Hat Cloud Access als Red Hat Hourly-On-Demand.

SAP ziet een gestage stroom klanten verhuizen naar de cloud. Die klanten zijn op zoek naar schaalbaarheid en willen alleen voor het daadwerkelijk gebruik betalen. Red Hat biedt al een open source enterprise-ready platform ter ondersteuning van SAP-applicaties op locatie. Dankzij deze uitgebreide samenwerking kunnen klanten EC2 van Amazon gebruiken om de SAP-applicaties op Red Hat Enterprise Linux te laten draaien.
De samenwerking tussen Red Hat en Amazon op het gebied van cloud computing dateert van 2007 met de beschikbaarheid van Red Hat Enterprise Linux via Amazon EC2. Als Red Hat’s eerste Premier Certified Cloud Provider biedt AWS klanten de mogelijkheid hun eigen Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscripties te gebruiken of te kiezen voor Red Hat Enterprise Linux on-demand met pay-as-you-go opties via Amazon EC2.
