Raritan (Raritan.nl) today joined the consortium Green IT Amsterdam Region, which is focused at creating a "Green Collar Economy". An industry pioneer since 1985, Raritan offers ICT and facility departments innovative solutions to improve energy management efficiency, improve data center productivity and enhance IT infrastructure operations.
The consortium consists of companies in the ICT sector and energy sector, regional authorities, knowledge institutes and related companies. Participants work out a program of specific projects in which they invest time and knowledge.
Amsterdam has set an ambitious goal to reduce CO2 emission by 40% by 2025. Supporting the effort, the city’s climate program, “Nieuw Amsterdams Klimaat”, is focused at significantly increasing energy efficiency, while at the same time strengthening the innovative and economic potential of the ICT sector in the region. As a direct result, the consortium Green IT Amsterdam was founded.
Jan Willem Tellegen, Managing Director Green IT Amsterdam, commenting on Raritan’s entry to the consortium: “Raritan's extensive R&D in power management and energy accounting tools makes them an invaluable partner to our network, strengthening its ability to understand and reduce the energy and carbon footprint of large data centers.“ Raritan with its roots in the development and production of server access and control solutions, four years ago expanded its offering with intelligent rack power distribution units (iPDUs), energy management software and environmental data center monitoring. And it didn’t go unnoticed: the company has an impressive global customer base using its solutions to reduce energy, and has been repeatedly recognized by the industry -- this year alone, Rartian received more than 7 industry awards.
“Energy usage of data centers in the Netherlands increased by over 50% in the past five years and available floor area of data centers have more than quadrupled,” says Ton Sneekes, Raritan’s Area Manager Benelux. “As a result the ability for organizations to monitor, measure and control energy consumption has become the norm for any reputable organization looking to design, build and maintain energy efficient data centers.”
According to Green IT Amsterdam, Raritan, with its intelligent energy management solutions, is a unique and important addition to the consortium. “We are very much looking forward to the expertise Raritan will contribute to our network of expertise.“ says Jan Willem Tellegen.
Raritan together with other particpants will be speaking on the subject of Energy Accounting and Smart Data Centers in early November 2011. Companies interested in attending this workshop should contact Jaak Vlasveld at Green IT Amsterdam via
