NETGEAR®, Inc. introduceert de eerste 10-gigabyte smart switch voor midmarket-netwerken. De NETGEAR ProSafe 52-Port Gigabit Stackable Smart Switch (GS752TXS) is het antwoord op het snel opkomende segment van 10-gigabyte servers. De switch levert namelijk maximale throughput van server naar switch voor veeleisende taken als datareplicatie en back-up, virtualisatie, video-on-demand en dataoverdracht met groot volume.
Voor minder dan de helft van de kosten van een managed switch levert de nieuwe ProSafe switch 48 gigabyte poorten waarmee apparaten aan het netwerk kunnen worden gekoppeld. Tevens beschikt de switch over 10G SFP+ poorten voor stacken of uplinking naar servers. Er kunnen maar liefst zes switches worden gestackt voor een totaal van 288 netwerkpoorten met volledige redundantie voor maximale betrouwbaarheid.
“Web-managed (smart) switches zijn zeer aantrekkelijk voor mid-market bedrijven die op zoek zijn naar een balans tussen prestatie en toegevoegde waarde. Er was echter een gebrek aan 10 gigabyte verbindingen in dit productsegment”, aldus Matthias Machowinski, Directing Analyst voor Enterprise Networks en Video bij Infonetics Research. “Met NETGEAR’s nieuwste smart switch kunnen klanten eindelijk de hoogste prestatie uit hun servers, NAS-toepassingen en network-up links verkrijgen.”
