Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), marktleider in opensourceoplossingen, kondigt vandaag aan dat NTT Communications, een van de grootste telecommunicatiebedrijven ter wereld, het gebruik van Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization en Red Hat Enterprise Linux heeft uitgebreid als de basis voor zijn cloud computing en hostingdienst, Biz Hosting Basic.
De eerste samenwerking tussen Red Hat en NTT Communications omtrent cloud computing dateert van april 2010 toen NTT Communications als een Red Hat Premier Certified Cloud Provider participeerde aan Red Hat's ecosysteem. Als onderdeel van deze samenwerking koos het telecommunicatiebedrijf Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization als virtualisatielaag voor zijn cloud en bood het bedrijf Red Hat Enterprise Linux aan als een gast-besturingssysteem op de Biz Hosting Basic dienst.
Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization is gebaseerd op Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) technologie. Dankzij de uitgebreide samenwerking zijn - voor NTT Communications-klanten die willen uitbreiden in de cloud - nu meer Red Hat Enterprise Linux gasten beschikbaar. Zij kunnen profiteren van dezelfde beveiliging, schaalbaarheid en diensten als on-premise klanten.
‘Wij kozen vorig jaar de virtualisatiesoftware van Red Hat als basis voor onze Biz Hosting Basic clouddienst vanwege zijn hoge beschikbaarheid, betrouwbaarheid, beveiliging en schaalbaarheid’, aldus Mamoru Murakami, director of Ubiquitous Communication Department, Business Network Services Division bij NTT Communications. ‘Deze implementatie was zo’n succes dat we de inzet sterk hebben uitgebreid om onze klanten een ideale cloudoplossing te kunnen bieden.’
