October 7, 2008 – Avanade, a global IT consultancy, ranked first in information technology and second in training in the recent survey conducted by Consulting magazine. It also stood out in the survey as one of the top five consulting firms in career development and for decreases in voluntary attrition.
The magazine, the flagship publication of the consulting profession, listed Avanade several times in its eighth annual survey of the “Best Firms to Work For”. Nearly 13,000 consultants representing 205 firms participated in this year’s survey, according to Consulting magazine. More than 120 Avanade consultants contributed to survey.
Consultants evaluated their companies in six overall areas: “Career Development”, “Compensation and Benefits”, “Culture”, “Work/Life Balance”, “The Job” and “Leadership”. Within those areas, Avanade shined in career development, training and a decrease in voluntary attrition. It rose to the top in the area of service lines.
The survey ranked Avanade as follows: Service Lines/Information Technology: No. 1
Training: No. 2
Career Development: No. 5
Decrease in Voluntary Attrition: No. 5
In the “Service Lines” category, Avanade outpolled Diamond Management Technology (2nd), SAP Consulting (3rd), SunGrad Consulting (4th) and CSC (5th). In “Training”, Avanade ran just behind Bain & Company (1st) and ahead of SAP Consulting (3rd), Diamond Management Technology (4th) and Accenture (5th). This marks the second year in a row that Avanade garnered a second place rating in “Training”.
For “Career Development”, the top five in order were Bain & Company, North Highland, The Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte Consulting and Avanade. And in “Decrease of Voluntary Attrition”, Avanade followed the following four companies in ranking order: Sapient, Hewitt Associates, A.T. Kearney and Navigant.
