Carrier to Carrier Telecom optimaliseert WAN met Cisco’s Network Capacity Expansion-systeem

Carrier to Carrier Telecom optimizes WAN performance with Cisco’s Network Capacity Expansion System

New system leads to major network performance improvements

Amsterdam – July 29, 2008 - Carrier to Carrier Telecom, a leading telecom service provider, has chosen to standardize on Cisco Integrated Service Routers (ISR) with the Cisco Network Capacity Expansion (NCE) System for its remote deployments. With this system Carrier to Carrier Telecom can offer its customers improved reliability and scalability of their networks as well as reduction of power consumption. The company has started roll-out of the solutions at customer sites in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Before deploying the system Carrier to Carrier Telecom and Cisco performed extensive testing using the NCE-system in a live satellite communications network. This enabled the Cisco development team to directly adapt to the real live market demand.

With the Cisco NCE System customers of Carrier to Carrier Telecom can profit from application acceleration using a highly efficient transparent performance enhancing proxy based on TCP-to-SCTP. Also they will be able to significantly increase their download speeds and reduce response times across high latency WAN links. Furthermore there is 100% interoperability with all Cisco IOS features including Firewall, IPSec, NBAR, QoS, Netflow and Cisco IOS Path Optimization features to provide the highest level of WAN optimization.

Before deploying the system Carrier to Carrier Telecom and Cisco performed extensive testing using the NCE-system in a live satellite communications network. This enabled the Cisco development team to directly adapt to the real live market demand.

“By consolidating acceleration services into the Cisco ISR’s, the complexity of the network goes down, the reliability goes up, and the scalability of the solution improves,” says Kees Jan Mink, General Manager of Carrier to Carrier Telecom. “Configurations become simpler, deployment times are cut in half, management is easier, and we reduce power consumption at remote sites, which can be very important for locations relying on batteries and generators. Even for simple things like shipping to customers in challenging environments, this solution reduces our costs and paperwork.”

Michiel Panders, Commercial Director Service Providers at Cisco: “With the Cisco NCE System Carrier to Carrier Telecom is not only able to boost network performance at its customers sites, but it also requires fewer network devices to do so. Furthermore the company can expand its suite of services which makes it an even more interesting supplier for customers who want to fully exploit the sometimes limited technical possibilities in remote areas.”

In a typical scenario, Carrier to Carrier Telecom builds a custom solution for a customer using a Cisco 2800 Series ISR with integrated security and other services, as well as the Cisco NCE System Advanced Integration Module (AIM). Back at the Carrier to Carrier Telecom data center, Cisco 3800 Series ISR’s aggregate the WAN links from the customer sites and bookend the Cisco NCE System acceleration services. The entire framework is linked with Carrier to Carrier Telecom’s core network, composed of Cisco 7200 Series and Cisco 7600 Series routers, allowing Carrier to Carrier Telecom to support thousands of remote customer locations with just 18 data center employees.
