WORLDMATE LIVE ANNOUNCES SERVICE UPGRADE TO SUPPORT ON-THE-GO TRAVELERS
Popular mobile travel service for BlackBerry smartphones now supports on-device itinerary editing and direct travel-agent integration
LOS ANGELES - (February 14, 2008) - WorldMate, Inc., the leading provider of mobile travel services for the road warrior and frequent flier, announced several upgrades of its WorldMate Live service, an award-winning travel tool for BlackBerry® smartphones.
The WorldMate Live service caters to traveling business users, managing their full itinerary, including travel arrangements and business meetings, directly on their BlackBerry smartphone. It helps ensure trips are as smooth as possible by pushing real-time alerts regarding changes and unforeseen events such as flight delays and cancellations.
The upgrade enables travel providers to update their client's itineraries directly on their BlackBerry smartphone through WorldMate Live, over-the-air. This keeps travelers' itineraries in sync with bookings made by agents, even while they are on the move. The service upgrade also expands the list of supported travel providers to over 100 of the top industry players, including Amadeus, American Express, BCD, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, and most major airlines, hotel chains and car rental agencies. Agents update their customers' itineraries in the WorldMate Live system by simply sending confirmation emails directly into it.
Additional improvements to the service include the ability for the traveler to change the itinerary on their BlackBerry smartphone, by adding or updating meetings, flights, hotels etc. The service now enables the traveler to lookup addresses of new meetings, making sure they are correct and view them on a map. In addition, the WorldMate Live Outlook add-in has been upgraded to support Microsoft Outlook 2007.
"This new revision includes mainly upgrades that were requested by our users in the first few months of the services' operation. Our members' itineraries are fluid, and change frequently even after they've embarked on the trip. We have now freed the user from being dependent on Outlook, and allow real-time updates for itineraries - while travelers are on the road and away from their PCs," stated Nadav Gur, WorldMate's CEO.
WorldMate Live is offered as a 'Freemium' service, with most components and services provided to end users for free. Premium services, including flight alerts, flight status and schedules, travel directory and customer support are available via subscription at $9.95 per month or $99.95 per year.
