Rotterdam, 21 augustus 2007 – Riverbed, specialist in performance-oplossingen voor Wide-area Data Services (WDS), introduceert de Steelhead Mobile, een client software versie van de bekroonde WDS-technologie. De Steelhead Mobile zorgt voor LAN-gelijkwaardige applicatieperformance voor alle werknemers of deze nu onderweg zijn, thuiswerken of op kantoor draadloos zijn verbonden.
De groei van het aantal mobile medewerkers en de vraag naar real-time performance vergt veel van de IT-omgeving. Uit onderzoek, van IDC, blijkt dat 75% van de bedrijven een toename van remote werken verwacht. Verder ziet 84% van de bedrijven de IT-uitdagingen, veroorzaakt door mobiliteit, toenemen.
Riverbed komt met Steelhead Mobile tegemoet aan de toenemende behoefte aan acceleratie-oplossingen die eenvoudig zijn te installeren en beheren, en die naadloos integreren in de aanwezige infrastructuur voor mobiele toepassingen.
Steelhead Mobile reduceert de benodigde tijd voor het mobiel downloaden van grote bestanden van één uur naar enkele minuten of zelfs seconden. Steelhead Mobile brengt tevens het bandbreedte gebruik terug en kan worden ingezet in elk willekeurig netwerk.
Riverbed heeft Steelhead Mobile uitvoerig getest op compatibiliteit met de meest gebruikte applicaties en garandeert een performanceverbetering van applicaties van mobiele en remote gebruikers.
Steelhead Mobile draait op het Riverbed Optimization System (RiOS), wat gebruik maakt van data- en transportstroomlijning om te komen tot datavermindering, compressie en transport protocol optimalisatie. Het gebruik van Steelhead Mobile levert onder andere de volgende resultaten op: Een 95x snellere Windows bestandsdeling met een bandbreedtereductie van 99%; een 54x snellere verzending van Microsoft Exchange e-mail bijlagen met een datareductie van 97%; een verbetering van de performance van op web gebaseerde applicaties tot wel 63x bij een reductie van de data met 99%; versnelling van op TCP gebaseerde applicaties over een breed scala van bekabelde en draadloze netwerken.
