- Extends Business Service Management Leadership with Advanced Service Analytics and Proactive Management Capability
- Saves Customers Time, Effort and Resources with Intelligent Automation
HOUSTON, May 29, 2007 – BMC Software today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire privately held ProactiveNet, Inc. the most advanced “early warning system” for IT on the market.
ProactiveNet leverages real-time and proactive analyses to identify problems before they impact the business. The acquisition will bring together BMC’s acknowledged market leadership in business service management (BSM) with award-winning ProactiveNet technology, to deliver the most advanced solution to enable customers to align IT services to business priorities.
“Automating manual efforts is a top priority for organizations today,” said Bob Beauchamp, BMC’s president and chief executive officer. “BMC’s acquisition of ProactiveNet will help customers ensure a superior end-user experience for their customers by automatically detecting potential problems before they impact service. The value and potential of this acquisition, combined with our leading performance, transaction and event management solutions, is beyond anything else on the market today. None of our competitors can deliver this overall capability for intelligent automation of service delivery, and current customers will find this a compelling value-add to their BSM implementation.”
ProactiveNet complements existing performance, transaction and event management systems by eliminating time and costs needed to manually build complex filters and correlation rules that detect and determine probable cause. Current and new customers can reap the benefits of ProactiveNet immediately and, with its intelligent threshold technology, the solution continues to get “smarter” by adapting to changing performance demands.
“With the acquisition of ProactiveNet, BMC can offer new and unmatched capabilities and value to IT organizations tasked with delivering reliable, high-quality services,” said Ajay Singh, ProactiveNet’s president and chief executive officer. “ProactiveNet’s success in delivering ‘Time to Value’ through our industry leading service analytics and ability to complement existing performance and event management systems are important factors in bringing our companies together.”
“ProactiveNet is unique, as it provides BSM via an analytics engine that correlates massive volumes of performance data from across the entire infrastructure, narrowing the many potential causes of a service problem to a manageable few to speed problem resolution efforts,” wrote Peter O’Neill and Evelyn Hubbert of Forrester Research1.
"ProactiveNet's analytics engine provides visibility into how our IT infrastructure is performing at any given moment, so we not only know when trouble's brewing, but where to go to fix it," said Rodney Jenks, Director of Sabre eMergo Operations at Sabre Airline Solutions. "The product deploys quickly and scales easily, and its ability to self-learn our changing IT environment eliminates costs associated with manual threshold setting and script maintenance."
Why ProactiveNet
End-User Experience: In today’s competitive business environment, downtime is not an option. From streamlining IT operations to assuring service-level compliance, ProactiveNet is an essential and cost-effective BSM solution. Because it analyzes performance on the fly, ProactiveNet not only provides early warning of potential or pending problems, but also eliminates false-positive alerts, reducing alert activity and making event management teams more proactive and, as a result, more effective. By providing IT the information they need to isolate and resolve problems early in the cycle, ProactiveNet allows IT shops to dramatically reduce service degradation and downtime.
Compelling ROI: By reducing IT operations cost and minimizing ongoing investments, ProactiveNet provides customers with an aggressive route to realizing their return on investment. Unlike other event management and performance solutions on the market, ProactiveNet offers rapid out-of the-box deployment and requires no thresholds or scripts to be configured, fitting right into the BMC IT operations solutions.
Powerful Technology Combination: ProactiveNet advances BMC’s delivery of Business Service Management with new analytics and event management capabilities that deliver unparalleled value across a broad range of third-party performance, transaction and event management solutions. The resulting combination of BMC’s and ProactiveNet’s industry-leading offerings will help fulfill customer requirements and provide the industry’s most comprehensive solution for mapping IT to business goals.
The transaction is subject to approval by ProactiveNet stockholders and customary closing conditions. BMC expects the transaction to close during the next 30 days.
