- Worldwide approach to core PC software standardisation
- Agreement will contribute to efficiency and flexibility
Amsterdam, 12 March, 2007 - Microsoft, a US based leading international software provider, and ABN AMRO, a Netherlands based leading international bank, announce the signature of a global Enterprise Agreement for PC licenses and support, covering Windows Vista, the Microsoft 2007 Office system and more.
In support of the bank’s strategic objective to create value by increasing operational efficiency and flexibility, the bank’s Services IT organisation is moving towards standardisation of the bank’s common hardware and software platforms. As part of this move, ABN AMRO has signed a three-year global Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft, covering certain core Microsoft desktop products and licenses including Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 suite.
The agreement moves the bank to a more flexible ‘per user’ license, offers access to the latest Microsoft software, support and development; gives cost predictability, and makes best use of the bank’s world-wide buying power.
With bank-wide standardisation across one common suite of products, plus the option to move to Windows Vista, Microsoft’s next generation PC operating system, ABN AMRO will unlock substantial cost savings, ensure a consistent operating environment wherever bank employees use PCs and deliver improved operational maintenance and support.
Microsoft and ABN AMRO have also signed a Premier contract, which provides for optimum use of Microsoft technology. Premier offers assistance in the fine-tuning of future plans, proactive advice on new software versions, evaluation of IT design and incident management. The Premier contract also covers support for Microsoft products for which the standard support lifecycle has expired.
