Arnhem, 26 januari 2007 - Utimaco, de Data Security Company, breidt zijn portefeuille uit met een nieuwe beveiligingsoplossing: SafeGuard RemovableMedia. Hiermee kunnen organisaties hun vertrouwelijke gegevens flexibel en transparant encrypteren op alle verwisselbare geheugenmedia. De nieuwe beveiligingsoplossing is het antwoord op de dringende vraag vanuit de zakelijke markt om de recente schandalen rond vertrouwelijke informatie te voorkomen en de schade ervan te beperken. Of het nu gaat om USB-sticks, geheugenkaartjes, externe harde schrijven of optische cd/dvd-media, met SafeGuard RemovableMedia zijn gegevens te allen tijde beveiligd tegen onbevoegde toegang. Zelfs als het verwisselbare medium wordt verwijderd of kwijtraakt. De eerste klant in Nederland heeft reeds 10.000 licenties besteld.
De oplossing zorgt ervoor dat data wordt gemixt met gewone tekst of dat bestanden als geheel worden gecodeerd, afhankelijk van het beveiligingsbeleid van het bedrijf. Om toegang te krijgen tot de data hoeft er niet extra te worden ingelogd dankzij de naadloze integratie in het besturingssysteem. Verificatie gebeurt automatisch en is compatibel met alle inlogsystemen.
De nieuwe SafeGuard RemovableMedia versie 1.0 kan snel worden geïnstalleerd en door het hele bedrijf worden verspreid. De administratie is flexibel en eenvoudig door het gebruik van de managementconsole van Microsoft. Bovendien kunnen de gebruikersrechten apart worden ingesteld. Dit maakt de gecentraliseerde invoering van zowel beperkend als flexibel beveiligingsbeleid mogelijk.

SafeGuard RemovableMedia integreert naadloos in het besturingssysteem zodat niet extra ingelogd hoeft te worden. Het werktempo van de gebruikers wordt dan ook niet verstoord. SafeGuard RemovableMedia wordt ondersteund door Windows XP, 2000 en 2003 en kan worden ingevoerd als een op zichzelf staand programma of als aanvulling op SafeGuard Easy van Utimaco. Afhankelijk van de wensen van de klant kan SafeGuard RemovableMedia worden gebruikt als programma voor een enkele computer of als licentiepakket voor het hele bedrijf.
