Nieuwegein – Avaya, Inc. (NYSE: AV), leverancier van communicatienetwerken en -diensten aan de zakelijke markt, introduceert een nieuwe Directory Enabled Management-interface (DEM). Deze oplossing verbindt op intelligente wijze grote bedrijfsapplicaties met IP-telefoniesoftware, messaging-systemen en mediaservers. Met Avaya DEM kunnen bedrijven communicatiesystemen eenvoudiger met bedrijfsapplicaties verbinden. Zo opereren organisaties dankzij de interface efficiënter en besparen ze kosten.
Met DEM is het mogelijk communicatieapparatuur op een nieuwe manier dynamisch te configureren en te controleren, gebaseerd op bedrijfslogica. Door bijvoorbeeld een nieuwe werknemer aan een human resource-database toe te voegen, worden automatisch een nieuwe telefoonaansluiting en voicemailbox aangemaakt.
De nieuwe interface verbetert ook de beveiliging en schaalbaarheid van organisaties. Zo beveiligt de oplossing binnen bedrijfsomgevingen door encryptie de verbinding tussen een DEM-server en de Avaya-communicatieswitch. Daarnaast is de capaciteit van DEM verdubbeld. De interface kan nu tot vijftig communicatiesystemen ondersteunen met één softwarepakket – waardoor de behoefte aan nieuwe hardware en kosten vermindert.

Avaya Introduces 3rd-Generation Directory Enabled Management (DEM) Interface to Link Intelligent Communications with Business Applications

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. – Avaya Inc. (NYSE: AV), a leading global provider of business applications, systems and services, today introduced its new third-generation directory enabled management (DEM) interface, a building block that intelligently connects enterprise business applications with IP telephony software, messaging systems and media servers. Avaya DEM makes it easier for companies to link communication systems with business applications and drive new operating efficiencies and cost-savings throughout an organization.
Using DEM, communications resources can be configured and controlled dynamically in brand new ways based on business logic. For example, adding a new employee to a Human Resources database might automatically trigger the provisioning of a new phone extension and voicemail inbox.
Companies can incorporate Avaya DEM capabilities into their operations by writing their own custom applications, by turning to the Avaya Professional Services team for development support, or by using a member of the Avaya DeveloperConnection program – an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company’s investment in its network. Avaya DeveloperConnection members writing DEM-compatible software include Consistacom for contact centers, RedSky Technologies for e911 and Starfish for a variety of custom applications.

DEM supports standards-based application programming interfaces (APIs), making it easy to integrate communications with popular off-the-shelf Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server software, including Microsoft Active Directory and ADAM, Sun iPlanet and Novell eDirectory, among others.
With the new 3.1 release of DEM, Avaya adds support for Avaya Modular Messaging, a standards-based IP voice and fax messaging platform. The new release also improves both security and scalability. For example, the link between a DEM server and a company’s Avaya communication switch is now encrypted. Also, DEM’s capacity is doubled to support up to 50 communication systems with a single software release – reducing hardware needs and lowering costs.
Avaya DEM 3.1 is now generally available globally.
