Nijmegen - The Netherlands, September 25, 2006 – Two world leaders in global supply chain management, Intermec and TNT Express, have agreed a long term contract for TNT Express to handle Intermec’s logistics from its European Distribution Centre in Nijmegen, The Netherlands to customers across EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa).
Intermec philosophy is to offer the highest levels of service to its channel partners and customers throughout the region. It therefore invited companies to tender for the role of its logistics partner, providing case level transportation, fast turnaround of shipments and a state-of-the-art tracking and tracing system.
TNT Express was awarded the contract on the basis of its proven supply chain system and a record of performance in providing track and trace solutions. With TNT Express already using Auto-ID hardware from Intermec for track & trace and signature capture, both companies now aim to build on each other’s expertise in order to improve supply chain information.
“Intermec are experts in Auto-ID and supply chain management technology and this agreement shows our mutual commitment to providing supply chain information in the logistics process,” said Marco de Jong, Key Account Manager Life Sciences and Electronics of TNT Express Netherlands. “
