Hilversum– NEC Corporation (NEC) en Royal Philips Electronics (Philips) hebben de transactie afgerond betreffende hun joint venture in bedrijfscommunicatie, zoals aangekondigd in november 2005. Het nieuwe bedrijf NEC Philips Unified Solutions, waarin NEC een belang van 60% en Philips een belang van 40% heeft, is per 3 april van start gegaan. Tijdens een speciale persbriefing die gisteren gehouden werd op het hoofdkantoor in Hilversum heeft Ad Ketelaars, CEO van NEC Philips Unified Solutions, de bedrijfsambities toegelicht.
Door het combineren van NEC’s sterke technologische kennis en marktpositie in Azië en Noord-Amerika met Philips’ sterke marktpositie in EMEA (Europa, Midden-Oosten en Afrika) worden substantiële competitieve voordelen behaald. Daarnaast biedt dit NEC Philips Unified Solutions de mogelijkheid om haar marktbereik en marktaandeel in de communicatiemarkt te vergroten.
De joint venture is deel van NEC’s wereldwijde strategie om meer dan 10% aandeel van de mondiale bedrijfscommunicatiemarkt te behalen. Om dit te bereiken investeert NEC significant in de ontwikkeling van platformen en applicaties die op wereldwijde schaal kunnen worden verkocht, evenals in het naar de markt brengen ervan.
Met een focus op de EMEA markt spreekt NEC Philips Unified Solutions de behoeften aan van alle soorten en groottes van bedrijven, met de volgende speerpunten:
- Een divisie die zich speciaal richt op het mkb (midden- en kleinbedrijf) is aanwezig om het bestaande netwerk van business partners uit te breiden. Business partners kunnen een uitgebreid product portfolio tegemoet zien, dat in Europa onder de Philips merknaam verkocht wordt. Het Business Partner Programma brengt alle essentiële delen samen - producten, marketing programma’s, mensen en processen - om business partners te helpen aan klanten eersteklas communicatieoplossingen te bieden.
- Bedrijven zullen voordeel halen uit de gecombineerde R&D activiteiten wat zal resulteren in een uitbreiding van het portfolio van platformen en applicaties. Dit resulteert in de grootst mogelijke keuze voor IP-gebaseerde communicatie, verenigd met de laatste spraak- en datatechnologie beschikbaar in de moderne wereld van bedrijfscommunicatie. Bestaande klanten kunnen blijven vertrouwen op de bewezen SOPHO iS3000 serie, die volledig ondersteund blijft en wordt voorzien van de nieuwste functionaliteit op basis van wensen uit de markt.
- Een aparte Solutions divisie is opgericht om op een mondiale basis klanten te bedienen van geïntegreerde applicaties, zoals rond UNIVERGE. Hiermee kan NEC Philips Unified Solutions inspelen op de verschuiving naar geïntegreerde oplossingen en diensten. In aanvulling op systeemintegratie en 24*7 (managed) services biedt de Solutions divisie ook oplossingen als Microsoft’s LCS (Live Communication Server) dat beschikbaar is vanuit de recent aangekondigde samenwerking met Microsoft.
Door het combineren van de sterkten van NEC en Philips, het verenigen van spraak- en datacommunicatie en het verenigen van platformen, applicaties en diensten, is NEC Philips Unified Solutions begonnen met het nakomen van haar commitment “Unifying enterprise communications”.
