In juli 2005, na de fusie met VERITAS, stelde Symantec John Brigden aan als senior vice president en algemeen adviseur. Bij VERITAS was Brigden senior vice president, algemeen adviseur en secretaris.
Brigden volgt bij Symantec Lindsey Armstrong op die zal vertrekken na een korte overgangsperiode. In zijn nieuwe functie gaat Brigden werken vanuit Green Park (UK).

Symantec Appoints John Brigden As New Europe, Middle East, and Africa Senior Vice President
CUPERTINO, Calif. – April 4, 2006 – Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced the appointment of John Brigden as senior vice president, Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). In this role Brigden will lead all sales, operations, and business development across the EMEA region. Brigden will succeed Lindsey Armstrong, who will leave following a short transition period.
“As enterprises make information more accessible to their customers, partners, and suppliers it becomes increasingly important to protect the infrastructure, information, and interactions,” said Tom Kendra, executive vice president, worldwide sales & services, Symantec. “John brings a unique perspective on a rapidly evolving business and IT compliance landscape and strong leadership and management skills to the EMEA region.”
“Lindsey is a talented sales executive whose dedication during the past 11 years has contributed to the success of the company,” said Kendra. “I appreciate her leadership throughout the past year and her commitment to finish the job at hand as we ended the fiscal year.”
Most recently Brigden served as senior vice president and general counsel for Symantec. He joined Symantec through its merger with VERITAS Software in July 2005. At VERITAS, Brigden was senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary, responsible for all legal matters, including sales and services transactions, compliance and corporate governance, intellectual property, strategic partnerships, litigation, and M&A.
Prior to VERITAS, Brigden held a number of sales, legal, and general management positions at emerging and large enterprises, including Shutterfly, Inc., an online digital photo service, and Silicon Graphics, Inc., a leader in high performance computing.
His technical background includes engineering positions at Rockwell International and General Motors Corporation. He began his legal career in private practice focusing on complex licensing transactions, anti-trust, and intellectual property litigation.
Brigden holds a J.D. degree with honors from Georgetown University Law Center and a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering with honors from Purdue University.
Brigden will be based in Green Park, UK.
